In the bom.admin you can query replacement parts from external providers.
To do that, start in the Details view of the External Parts (XP).
As an alternative you can also start in the Edit view or the list of External Parts (XP).
In all three cases click the search button

The result button 
right next to it shows how many results were found. It is grey if the part has either never been queried or queried with no results and green 
if there are results. Between the brackets you see how many.
Click it to view the substitutes which are found within your pcn.cockpit®.
Here you see your Internal Part (IP) at the top and below it a list of substitutes (replacement parts) which were found at DigiKey.
Click on the links in the columns Searched Partnumber or Substitute MPN to go to the provider's page for the clicked Part Number.
Be aware that you are then leaving the pcn.cockpit®.
